im stuck between those 2 cards for 1080p gaming i see that gtx 770 is slightly better in performance, i dont know if the 2gb vram in that is gonna be enough for future games since ill stick to one of these cards for like next 2 years.
asus models of both cards are on same price.
appreciate your comments thanks.

neither card is fast enough to use more then 2gb of vram.. the only reason you'd want 3 or more is if you planned on SLi/xfire. as both cards certainly ARE fast enough to use more then 2gb of vram while in SLi/xfire. The 770 is basically a 680 only overclocked a little and with a better turbo feature. the r9-280x is basically a 7970 GHz Ed. thanks for the explanation but is there any clue about the mantle release date and why do they delay it instead of releasing so it can make an impact

Performance wise the two cards are VERY similar, another thing to keep in mind is the stuff included with the cards, like the GTX 770 includes batman and 2 other games, and the 280x include battlefield 4. sorry i have no idea about mantle. also remember the software included with them like nvidias "shadowplay" and PhysX or amd's audio solution

their both good but if in the future you want pretty much max ultra 1440/1600p performance you could do it no problem by doing sli/crossfire but if you think you may do that…. skip the 2gb nvidia cards altogether and concentrate on 4gb 680/770 or the 280x. other than that if your just on a single 1080p…2gb is probably fine and both are great. get whatever is cheapest or comes with games bundled that you would enjoy.

Before you drop more money on a 4GB card take a look at these benchmarks. I really have no idea why people say only get 4GB. Makes the slightest difference of about 2FPS at 5760x1080 if you're lucky.
