So I am planning on upgrading my PC soon and I was wondering what components I should upgrade to get the best performance. I can currently play most games on Ultra/High, but new games like Battlefield 4 require me to run High/Med settings.

Here are my all my specs:

Case: CoolerMaster HAF-XM

Motherboard: MSI H87-G43 LGA 1150 (Military Class 4)

Graphics card: Asus Radeon HD 7870

CPU: Intel i5-4570 Haswell

Ram: 8gb Intel

Power supply: 900w

So what components should I upgrade to improve the performance the most? Also I know I could go and buy a GTX 780ti or something, but I can't afford a $500+ GPU. Although a better card then my current (7870) that isn't too expensive would be fine.

-Thanks

well, just get a new GPU for all the money you have.
Your 7870 is a weakest point right now.

A cheaper option if that board allows it (not 100% sure of this) would be buy another 7870 and run them in crossfire, it will outperform anything even close to the price if you can afford. You have enough of a power supply to support a crossfire as you sit.

i prefer single card solutions, but you could put another 7870 in.You have the cpu and power supply for a xfire settup.

You could get another 7870 for $150-$200 and crossfire them. This will give you great performance probably similar to the 780.

I have the ability to run crossfire, but the airflow in the room is a little sketchy, and crossfire runs hot. Also I had heard of microstutter issues in crossfire. Is it worth a try?

one of the cards will be operating in x4 PCI-E mode with this board. It wont be good for performance.

It is by 2 miles your best price/performance ratio. I would maybe upgrade the case fans a bit to ensure the air gets out of the case, but even with another $10 spent on case fans you're still way ahead of any other option.

Thanks for all the replies, I think the people who suggested the Xfire with 2 7870's were right about it having the best Performance/price ratio. And I do have Catalyst control center installed, which (I am pretty sure) lets me turn Xfire mode on and off if needed.
