I have a Coolermaster 344 Elite USB 3 Case and without realizing have purchased a 80mm fan for the 90mm slot on the side. Is it still possible to fit this fan on the side? Or is it a waste of £13 as I have already ordered it :(

The holes for the side fan are for a 90mm fan. I don't think it would be a good idea to try to drill your own holes, because they'd probably end up right at the edge of that circular section that's different to allow airflow. I've seen plastic shrouds for adapting an 80mm fan to a 120mm mount, but I don't find any for 80mm to 90mm. You might see if you can cancel your order or return it, though.

There are cheap 90mm to 80mm mounts you could purchase.

If this is a solution, please link to one of these mounts. I could not find one to give an example.

@mauvecloud Hiya, Im taking the computer in to get them installed along with a heatsink, so i don't know if he will be able to do anything. I am unable to cancel the order/change it :(  and as my parents are buying it for me, theres nothing i can do to cancel the order on the website etc. i have measured and the hole will not touch the circular hole needed for air going in, so will have to wait and see what happens. there are 2 holes on the back unlike the side one, one for 80mm and the other for 90mm.

@idewitt using zip ties to hold the 80mm fan in position over the hole?

@shardey i need a 80mm to 90mm fan mount, but thanks for the reply

Yes i know its not pretty but it works. because of my liquid cooler fans and radiator i was unabled to fit a 140mm fan in the top slot in my case and the way my case is you cant put screws in through the bottom to hold the fan in place so i said fk it and used zip ties and zip tied the fan to the top slot in my case(on the outside of my case) and ran the molex connector that powers the fan to the back and through a PCI slot. Works like a charm :-)
