So my set up now is like 6 years old.

intel core 2 duo (cpu)

4gb (ram)

Gigabyte ep41t ud3l (motherboard)

Nvidea GeForce GT250 (Graphics Card)

Anyhow im looking into upgrading, so the first thing I did was added new double 4gb ram cards for a total of 8 and did a clean install for a 64bit windows.

Now I'm looking for a pc that can do light gaming video editing and video recording.

My budget is 500$ and do I need to replace the graphics card or not ?

Solution
GPU - if its a compatibility question then NO, you can stay with the GT250, as for performance, don't expect it to run minecraft in 1080p.

As for the 500$ builds:

Without GPU but with: 6 core CPU + 120Gb SSD + 8gb 1866mhz Memory + semi modular PSU + OS etc' for 507$

With a GTX 650 with 2Gb GDDR5! but without a OS, CD drive and a less "fancy" case - 502$:

In this case i would suggest getting the Radeon 7850, its another 25$ but double the performance:

In any case i hope it helped and Enjoy :p
