Can I mix 4gb of ram and 8 gb of ram on a asus k55n

I have a asus k55n-db81 laptop and there are currently 6 gigs of ram inside (one 4gb stick and one 2gb) the laptop has only two slots and I was wondering if I could keep the 4gb stick in and also put in another 8gb stick In. Thanks in advance

Is it possible? Yes. Will it hurt anything? No.

The best way to know for sure is to go on crucial.com and use their system scanner which will help you determine the maximum amount of RAM you can install in that laptop.
