I'm overclocked to 4.3GHz using the Corsair H80i. When I first installed the heatsink the fans where very loud. I had to connect the fans to the heatsink using the dual 4 pin connectors and then I connected the USB cable to the heatsink to a spare USB header on my motherboard. The fans are way quieter. I have Corsair Link Software installed. I was playing Assassin's Creed 4 using default mode for the 2 fans but after an hour it got pretty loud going to 1700RPM. I don't like fixed mode so I used quiet mode. It is indeed quiet my current temps while running assassin's creed IV on the highest possible settings is 48C. But I was only in the game for about 10 minutes and I wasn't moving around. So it'd probably get higher than that (maybe 55C max?) If it was to go to 55C would that be a safe temp while gaming? I haven't seen it go to that yet but since I changed the settings after hours of gaming it might.

I'd also like your input on the max safe gaming temp it'd be greatly appreciated
Let me know
Thank you

Thank you. What do you think the max safe temp would be while gaming with my cpu?

Very safe - I'm experiencing 60~ on my i7-3770K right now due to the fact that it is freezing out side, and it is nice and warm inside :D  (my case is directly below a furnace vent, so I see a +7 temp difference in winter lol)

Personally i would keep it under 65 degrees celsius at maximum load(100%) . I've known some people who have said they are fine at 70 degrees but i think when they are too hot it might shorten the life of the cpu

Yeah, I'm with you. It alarms me though that at 50% my cpu is at 60... aha

Thanks. I actually get 67C when my room is 75F after 12 hours of stress testing. But then again that was using default mode it'd probably get to 70C after hours of stress testing now lol. But I was just testing to see if it's stable. I will never never be able to get my cpu to get as hot as prime95 on small ffts makes it that's for sure. Thanks again

Most motherboards I've come across will shut down at 80 to 90c. So for constant gaming I wouldn't push 75c
