Ever since I upgraded to Windows 8.1 on my desktop PC the computer doesn't sleep at all. I have DontSleep 3.01 installed but it is not active and has no uninstall program. Should I do a clean install of Windows 8.1? How do I do this because I only have a Windows 8 disk. Thanks

I reinstalled windows 8.1 and it still doesn't sleep unless I tell it to manually. I am using the balanced power plan modified to keep the hard drives powered on always. I have the right drivers installed for my motherboard and OS and the right display driver. It is Asrock Extreme 4 Z77, Intel I7 2600, MSI 7950 boost.

Try disabling Home Group and see if system sleeps. If that fixes it, then there are further work arounds to get Home Group active that will allow sleeping (if you need Home Group, which many do not).

Yep that fixes it. Thanks. I would like that to be on though.
