External Graphics Cards

I have an HP Pavillion G4 laptop with an AMD A6 processor (and it's integrated graphics), and you'll laugh, but I like to play games on it, and I find I can get okay performance. When I was looking around online, I saw some "external graphics cards", but it seems to me like they're only adapters to add more monitors to your computer. What I'm wondering is if I can get an external graphics card (I would get an internal card, but this is a laptop, and there's no room) that will help my gaming performance. Also, with the cards that just add other monitors, if I was to plug that into my laptop, and add another monitor, would my performance be better on that monitor?

I don't know much about graphics cards, so any help is appreciated.

well..
for that purpose, you can use lucid thunder bolt external graphic card..

using discrete pcie graphic card in different module, and then display it in external monitor..
The performance depend on what are you slap in it..
if you slap a strong graphic card, then of course your performance will be much better than your onboard graphic..
