Hey guys, I scoured the internet for answers. No answer solved my problem, but I saw this is a common issue for installing new cards. So, the problem is as follows:
I own this computer- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883107391 and have for a while. I got new computers and gear, so I gave this one to my little brother. He wants to play MineCraft on it but the onboard graphics kind of suck. So, I bought this- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150655&nm_mc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_- for him.
On the installation of the card everything seemed swell. However, as soon as the computer was powered on I found that the computer would no longer boot. I changed the VGA back to the onboard, but the screen was still black. If I take out the card everything is dandy again, but after I plug it in again, no avail.
I tried wiping old drivers, installing new ones, changing the graphics priority in BIOS, just having one stick of RAM, and moving the card around in the slot. Still nothing. I consider myself good with computers but I'm stumped. The only thing I can think of is that the card or slot is bad, or that the PCs PCI express slot is not compatible with PCI express x16. Any ideas?
I really don't want to have to return it, and I don't want to buy another one. Any response helps. Thanks.
