I'm about to ditch Win7. I've been trying to access a Win7 share from XP Pro machines. The Win7 machine is, of course, set to allow file/printer sharing, is set as a "work" machine, and all machines on my network are behind the same network firewall and on the same subnet. There are no connectivity issues and the XP machine can "see" the shared folder, and even map it as a network drive, but I get an "Access is Denied" error when actually trying to access it, so it seems obvious it's a permission error. None of my machines have lower-privilege user accounts - all run with the same username, which is an administrator level account. The Win7 machine does not run with a firewall and I've tried disabling the firewall on those XP machines that have one. All are in the same workgroup and I am not using Homegroups or a domain. UAC is disabled on the Win7 machine. I *CAN* access shares on my XP machines from the Win7 machine, as well as Linux devices, etc. Any ideas?
