r9 270x not loading windows 8.1?

I recently upgraded my graphics card from an HD 7770 to an r9 270x, and I got into windows, installed the beta drivers for catalyst control center ect, then played some games. then, the screen went black, and I force restarted the computer. when the computer comes on, it posts just fine, then starts to load windows 8.1, and it gets past the loading page, and then the screen goes black again. it can't get past that. any reason why this might have happened?

The fact that you are running a beta driver might not help matters. If you can get yourself into Safe Mode, remove the CCC install and download the latest non-beta driver version (13.9 if memory serves). If that doesn't help, we may need to get another video card to install in your system as a test. The 270X may be failing.
