So I have a Dell XPS 420 and my video card seems to suddenly have a problem where my computer doesn't seem to recognize that the card is either there or has an NVidia gpu. I have a 8800GT card.
The system information said I had a code 43 error. I tried reseating the card, reseating the ram. It worked once but then it happened again and now this time reseating didnt work and doesnt seem to as I've tried several times. I also tried switching to another spare card and I still get the same problem.
Based on what I have researched, my mobo doesnt have an onboard video card to switch to if the graphics card doesn't work, so I'm wondering how my display still works. The resolution still looks good, the color still looks good (1600x1050, 32bit color). I also tried reinstalling the drivers and that didnt work.

I most recently changed the PSU to a 500W Corsair since the OEM PSU died but had to take off the huge heat sink to get the cables out and didnt reattach with any thermal paste (could that be a problem).

Could my Windows 7 be corrupt and not be detecting my graphics card now?

My monitor also isnt being detected (the computer used to know what model monitor was running).

Its strange I see no loss in performance but my computer isn't detecting my NVidia GPU.

That would be a OS/driver problem since if the card was broken it would not work.
