I'm looking in to getting a new PC and I originally was going to get a GTX 700, but since then I realized I might be able to get better performance by buying lower end cards and using SLI. What is the best configuration of Nvidia cards in regards to gaming performance for a max budget of $450(AU)?

Solution
Do you mean $450 for the whole build or just the card?In any event the gtx 770 would be my recommendation if you want to spend less then i would recommend a non reference gtx 760 such as EVGA SuperClocked w/ EVGA ACX Cooler or MSI HAWK Bottom line economic reality may constrain even the most discriminating hardcore gamer. Unless you have unfathomably deep pockets, you'll need to balance your desires versus your wallet. Look for discounts and sales, both online and retail. And bear in mind that your monitor may strongly affect your graphics card choices.f you have an older, 1680-by-1050-pixel monitor, a good $200 to $250 card is the most you'll need, even if you enable performance-sucking features such as antialiasing.

On the other hand, if you want to run three Full HD monitors in stereoscopic 3D mode, a single high-end card may not be enough.

For most of us, the happy medium lies somewhere between. Today's typical display is 1920 by 1080 and a $250 graphics card usually does fine with such a monitor, though you may have to forgo some of the "ultra" detail settings.

That said, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 .actually offer performance that is nearly as good as , the Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 , but at a more modest price. If you stick with a 1080p single monitor setup with one of these cards, you should be in good shape for quite some time.

From my experience i wouldnt recommend sli and sli isnt for everyone..Sure you may/may not have issues but as for me 1 780 ran way better then 2 in sli.. Was getting this weird inconsistent framedrops and inconsistent stuttering without frame lost which pretty much sealed the deal for me. At 1080p i would invest in the gtx 770 which would be a beast card for that resolution ad bigcyco1 is spot on +1
