Need help with the last few pieces of my build

deciding on a case to keep my PC cool (will OC)
deciding on the right monitor for me
deciding on the right power supply

with the power supply and PC case, i want cheap cheap cheap, with the only exception being that I want to ensure the PC case will do a good job of cooling my components as I have read that some of my components will run hot

also if you guys recommend a different ram (would like 8gb total) i am open to that !

Please post the permalink or the bbcode markup. The link you included is the generic one that just shows other users whatever they chose last. For the monitor, you kinda have to decide for yourself what resolution and physical size you want, and I can help you from there. For the case, do you have any size restrictions or aesthetic guidelines you can describe? If not, my initial suggestion would be a Cooler Master HAF 912.

Hey I was doing some web surfing and came across a monitor that seemed to be a good buy

it is included in the link with the rest of the parts...please let me know what you think (i want to keep the total price under 1200$) currently at 1076 (need to add an optical drive, power supply, and a case...also wouldn't mind a budget keyboard)

as far as the case I am leaning toward a lighter color scheme, but aesthetics is secondary to price, it fitting my components, and it doing a good job of keeping my components cool

Ok, this components are cool. Now only thing to consider is your graphics card lenght. Than check case you want on web (official site ofcourse). With PSU there is no doubt - go with veteran make, the best according to reviews, the Corsair. You can take modular or cassic PSU, differences are about few bucks for same watts PSU. ASUS monitors have very low respond time, thats what you want (5ms or lower) and have highest contrast ratio. They also look cool and some have IPS. They are not more expensive than other brands.

@mauvecloud: i was looking at that case and it seems like a really solid one, however are there any particular standout reasons why it is better than its competitors within +/- 20$?

@lukapavlinovi: do you have any case recommendations? thank you for the psu rec i am definitely going to go with Corsair. did you take a peak at the monitor i have selected? any thoughts/opinions?

also any keyboard recommendations and does it matter if i get 2x 4gb sticks of ram or 1x 8gb stick or 4x2gb sticks etc? and is my ram choice alright?

@lukapavlinovi manufacturer specifications for response times are meaningless, and so is the "Asus Smart Contrast Ratio" (ASCR). If you want high static contrast (which is the ratio between black and white displayed simultaneously, instead of separately like they do for dynamic contrast ratios), you want to look for an AMVA panel (up to 3000:1). Static contrast is usually a bit weak on IPS panels (around 700:1 or 800:1, TN panels usually have about 1000:1 static contrast)

@ndug15 2x4GB is generally best, because it will provide extra bandwidth by running in dual channel mode, and the 2x4GB kits generally don't cost much more than the 1x8GB sticks, in fact the kit I chose is less expensive than your choice.

For monitor you cant miss. Any 5ms respond, fullHD monitor will do fine. This is what I know contrast lowest-highest:
LG<Philips~Samsung~AOC<ASUS. Contrast doesnt matter much. Take what ever you want and can afford. Hope this helps. Good luck!

@mauvecloud: thanks for the build modifications and the response to my ram question I think I am going to pull the trigger on that build with a different power supply!

@lukapavlinovi: thank you for that case, but it is a bit out of my price range! and thanks for the advice on the monitors.

you guys were super helpful, great first experience on this website.

last question: my grfx card seems to be unavailable until the 29th december, is there any other places you would recommend to pick it up for a similar price?
