Hi,

I'm normally a lurker but I've been having this issue which I haven't been able to solve so I figured I would ask for help here. A few days ago the internet connection on my Bravia just stopped working. It's directly connected from my router via LAN. I tried to do an auto and a manual network setup but it can't detect a connection with my modem. When I go to view network settings I noticed it says cable connection failed.

I've also tried to change the cable twice and made sure both work by connecting them to my laptop instead. I'm not really sure what information to provide on this since it just randomly stopped working. Thanks in advance!

Solution
Your manually assigned address of .2.4 is in the DHCP range of .2.2 to .2.254. Change your DHCP range to .2.5 to .2.254 then recycle your router with the TV off, then turn the TV on when the router is working again for other devices. Now if you cannot do this, then you should delete the static address in the router, and try again to set up the TV to automatically obtain an IP address from the gateway 192.168.2.1

Thank you for the reply. Well I tried to plug in to a different port but it didn't work. The thing is that the lan connection works fine if I connect a laptop instead of the tv. The router isn't picking it up. I was considering that the lan port on the tv may have messed up but I don't see how that would be possible since I never plugged it out before.

I've found that you sometimes need to reset the information several times for it to work.

The other thing to try is to give the TV a static IP address in the network range, the subnet mask would be 255.255.255.0, and the DNS would be the same as the gateway router address. Then you would need to also set the TV as static in the router static table using the MAC address of the TV. Insure that you use a static address that is outside the DHCP server range of the router.

Example static settings: gateway router IP 192.168.1.1 TV 192.168.1.2 Gateway router DHCP range 192.168.1.3 to .254

I tried to set the static IP like you said, but it's not working. I think I might be doing something wrong though. I took a screenshot of the option in my router where I did the manual assignment part. It doesn't allow me to set an IP address outside of the DHCP range. I set the same IP and other settings in the TV but I still get a connection failed error. I'm sorry for being a bit slow and thank you for helping me.

(I hope a dropbox link is okay. If not I'll upload to a website.)

Okay I changed the range and also tried another automatic set up and neither worked. Perhaps something like an automatic update on the TV may be causing the issue. I have another router lying around. I'll try with that one first thing in the morning and follow up here.
