Hi everybody,

I decided to finally build a gaming computer for myself.
I already made a list of components and I would like some feedback.
here is the link:

My last component to buy is the motherboard. I am curious to find out what motherboard would match this system?

I would also like to know if it is worth it to buy a higher end motherboard or i could easily use just any z87 i could find at an affordable price?

Thanks.

Hello!
I've been planning out a build for my new system and I've done quite a bit of research on ATX motherboards (not too sure about mATX which is why I have my forum post :p). Generally you don't need a super high end motherboard unless you're planning on running more than 3 video cards, want a lot of hard drives or plan to overclock and fine tune like mad. You should take a look at the ASUS Z87-A, the AsRock FATAL1TY Z87 KILLER, the Gigabyte Z87X-D3H and the ever popular AsRock Z87 Extreme 4. Before I reconfigured my build to mATX, I was trying to decide between these. Ultimately, I was set on the FATAL1TY board because I've heard good things about the LAN controller thing and I don't need a second USB 3.0 header. I believe a lot of...

Ultimately, I was set on the FATAL1TY board because I've heard good things about the LAN controller thing and I don't need a second USB 3.0 header. I believe a lot of the guys here will recommend the ASUS board or the Extreme 4 however. They offer good specs at a reasonable price. If you do want to go high end, take a look at the ROG series of motherboards from ASUS or their Sabertooth board. You should also take a look at the Gigabyte Sniper board. I've read some good things about them too.

tl;dr
Have a look at the AsRock Z87 Extreme 4, the ASUS Z87-A and the AsRock FATAL1TY Z87 KILLER motherboard for a cheaper option. Check out the Gigabyte G1 Sniper M5 and the ASUS Maximus-VI-Hero if you really want to go high end (you probably won't use a lot of the features on those boards)

Hope this helps
