I've spent a long time waiting and thinking about this build but I think this should be pretty much it. As a precaution I'm posting here as a final check for quality/ compatibility.

Case
NZXT Phantom 530 Ultra Case – White ~169
CPU
Intel Core i5 4670 ~256.66
GPU
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 ~629
HDD
Seagate 1TB Barracuda ~74.99
Motherboard
Gigabyte GA-H87-D3H ~129.99
PSU
Corsair TX-650 V2 80+ Bronze Power Supply ~135
RAM
G.SKILL RipjawsX 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 1600MHz ~100.20
SSD
Samsung 840 EVO 120GB ~109
Total
$1,603.84

Reasons;
Ultra case to leave room for whatever I choose to add
Not overclocking
Tired of waiting for the non reference r9 290's and am getting better drivers and cooling anyway
1TB is more than sufficient
Decent motherboard for the price if not overclocking or SLI
650 watts to allow for the 780
G skill is a good brand and 8gb meets my needs
Samsung is good and 120g is also sufficient

Any changes we would make?

it is my revision of your build :) you can always use your original build, they are all compatible
seasonic G 80+ Gold 550 is enough for GTX 780
