E2160 used in server is same cpu as Desktop ???

E2160 CPU for server is different then which is used in desktop E2160 ??

I want to upgrade my IBM server which is almost 8 yrs old now....What kind of higher processor can I upgrade ?? E 8400 should do the job ???

If it's the same socket, it will be compatible. Whether it will run well or not depends on what you want to do with it.

I tried upgrading bios and got done with some express tools by IBM.

Which can be the best CPU other then E8400 ?? I am using it to run mail server, domain server, and MS SQL based ERP..
