I use a d-link Dir-600l wireless router for an office wlan setup. i configured the parental control rules to "allow computers access to only these site". Now my problem is that only the homepages of certain pages can be accessed. How to i resolve this. There is no centralized server so i cannot create specific rules to target access to sites. Also, the router limits me to just 10 rules

This tends to be the reason office internet get expensive really fast. If everyone would just follow rules there would not be so many issues.

The next level up from what you are doing is opendns. It pretty much just refuses to resolve the host you do not want people to access. Of course any of your users that understand DNS will bypass you very quickly.

Anything past this point requires a firewall or proxy server that has lists of sites to block/permit. Most people just purchase subscriptions to the blocking lists rather than trying to do it themselves.

Then again the best way to stop abuse is to wait until someone goes way over the line and make sure everyone knows they were fired for misuse of company internet. You should see how much internet use drops when that happens
