Hey guys, not sure if i'm in the right place but here goes..

Currently experiencing some annoying issues with my current motherboard, main issue being dodgy usb ports. I have decided to upgrade from my 3570k as a result to the newer 1150 pin socket and grab a i5 4670k most likely as well as upgrading my psu from a tx850w to a seasonic 1050w psu so i can crossfire with my 290 in the future.

Currently looking between the ASRock Fatal1ty Z87 KILLER priced at $179 aud, or the MSI Z87-G45-Gaming priced at $195 aud.

Just wondering if there is a significant difference between either of these boards or if there is a better alternative to both of these for what i'm looking to do? Cheers.

EDIT: I am probz leaning towards the msi g45 at this stage as my current mobo is a asrock and has let me down. Cheers.

Most Z87 MBs OC the same, or with very little difference. I have OC'd my MSI board to 4.6 GHz and it is very stable.

Both are even but it hink that the Asrock has the edge.
But tell me why do u want to upgrade to a 4670k,the 4670k is not a big improvement over the 3570k.Keep your processor and change the board.
But if u have got enough money to spend, then get a z87 mobo along with a 4670k/4770k and be aware of doing crossfire in future as u would exp. microstutter issues.

Just because i am needing to replace the motherboard i figure i might as well get the newest gen so i can upgrade later if the next release of cpu's yield more improvement. My current 3570k wasn't a great over clocker either, max it can do is 4.4ghz @ 1.32v. And while i have everything out i figure i should grab a 1050w psu so that i can confidently run 2x r9 290's.

Why would you have the asrock slightly ahead of the msi g45?

Well that's right u should use latest gen. boards and the new socket(i.e., LGA1150). A TX750W/850W would be enough for two R9 290's.
ASrock-3 pci-e slots running at x16/x8/x8 or triple x8 mode which is good, killer networking manger(faster internet).(However, it's good for the price).
G45-I think it has got better power phase design than the asrock but it's pricey.

yeah , there seems to be a heap of choices around at the moment making it hard to choose, tempted by the asrock extreme 4 at a lower price than these 2 as well, and the asus z87-a at a similar price, and even gigabyte d3h. They don't make it easy lol. I really don't know which way to go. Are any of the boards i mentioned going to be significantly better for overclocking?

I think i'm going with a New plan , instead of compromising I'm just going to be patient and grab the asus maximus vi hero and a i7 4770k now and forget about the psu for now. At least that way its a real upgrade and I can always do the psu later.

Did u meant that the asus-PRO is 112$ more than the MSI G-45(gaming)?
Nevermind but i didn't spoke of the asus PRO but of the Asrock z87 Extreme4/MSI GD65. i didn't spoke of the asus maximus VI. It's too costly mate!
