hello everyone,
my pc's specs :-

intel quad core q8200 2.3 ghz
4 gb ddr2 ram
amd 6770 1gb GPU
400w psu
Asus IPIBL-LB - intel g33 motherboard.
640 gb 5400 rpm HD

As i have a older motherboard i cant install ddr3 ram and a newer processor.
so possible options are to upgrade the GPU, get 4 gb extra ram, install ssd .
so what gpu should i get so that my cpu does not become a bottleneck ? (is 7850 or 7870 fine ? )
and is having 8gb ram worth it on a ddr2 system ?
i just want to play current and future games with decent experience.
any suggestions please ?

Honestly, buying more ddr2 seems like a waste to me. A quick search on newegg shows 4gb of ddr2 going for about 100 bucks.
An SSD would be a good idea, but is not going to make a change in frame rates, just load times for games/windows.

dont bother if u want to run future games on decent performnace your computer is not the answer cause u will have to upgrade everything and your pc is prob perbuilt os it wasnt made to upgrade so u will need a new case u lookin at major major overhaul there..... what is your budget?

How much of a budget do you have for your upgrade? I would say upgrade everything if you can afford it, if not, the biggest difference youll notice will be with a better video card. The 7850 is only about 150 bucks right now, and you would be able to play most games on on mid/low mid settings(wiuth your pcu being the bottleneck)

no he wont his ram is to slow ddr2 is a thing of the past and the psu knowing prebuilds are very crappy and can overheat quickly with gaming to much for very little time :ouch:

Ram speed doesnt have nearly as much of an impact on performance as amount of ram or video card. Is the OP going to be able to play every game on high settings with 60fps ? No. But having ddr2 ram wont stop any game from playing. As for your post about prebuilts and heat, with an Asus motherboard, I kind of doubt its a prebuilt system.
