Hello guys I have recently purchased an AMD Radeon R9 290, and it only has digital outputs(hdmi/displayport/dvi) and my monitor only has a VGA exit, is there any way of making that analog signal into one of those digital? some people say its impossible that the card only has digital and theres no way of converting from analog, can you help me out pls?

Kind regards

WHAT????
Why is your monitor sending out video?????????
It ought to have a VGA input.....
if that is the case you need a DVI to VGA adapter.... no active stuff there.....
available dime a dozen nowadays...

Those don't work with dvi-d ports, only dvi-i.

Well of course they don't work.... they're for a single link DVI-I....
Point being.... get an adapter which looks and fit's the OP's outputs.....

I've been using quiet a few for a very long time now....hell's Sapphire and some other companies even bundle them up with the GPU....

Yeah, you're telling me to explain to the OP all the different kinds of adapters that are available so he can pick and choose?
Some people have a little more brains... and usually get the message in pretty plain english......

Well, you should have been kind enough to reply to the OP and point him in the right direction instead of wasting time telling me right?? I thought the forum was to help people out.....
I could have expected this sort of a comment from a new kid who'd just joined the forum..... lol....

Seems you don't know the difference between dvi ports so let me enlighten you. Dual link and single link DlV-D ports are digital only and a simple dvi to vga adapter will not work. DVI-D to vga requires a converter like the one in my first post. DVI-I ports have a digital and analog(vga) so an adapter works fine on those. There are also DVI-A ports which are analog only. Both DVI ports on the R9-290 are DVI-D. So you can insert your foot in your mouth now.

Hey people stop fighting.

There are two kinds of DVI. Digital and Analog.
If your card has the dvi with the - sign like in the pic above then it's a Dual Link DVI-D.
A VGA to DVI adapter does not work on those(There is no analog signal from those ports).
Another is the one with the + sign and four dots. That's the dual link DVI-I port.
A VGA to DVI adapter would work with those ports, but will have a max resolution of 2048x1536.
