I'm hoping to be building an amd based gaming pc soon and i'm a bit stumped with the processer. Is it worth the extra money for the fx-8350? or is the fx-6300 good enough for gaming?
FX-6300 is good enough for any kind of gaming for now but as Consoles have changed their CPU to 8 core cpu therefore in future most of the games will require 8 core cpu to run them on Ultra settings.
then you'll need 8 core CPU so better go with the FX-8350 rather than FX-6300.
for purely gaming, the answer is no. there is only 1-5 fps difference, that is unnoticeable
for futureproofing fx 8350/8320 is better, it will last for longer probably

For gaming, I believe the 6350 is optimal. They keep on saying that multi threaded games would be the next in thing. But I only see 2 or 3 games that perform really well when using 8350 or i7.
I JUST bought an 8350, it is solid. For pure gaming, if you are looking to save money, or are on a budget, the 6300 is a GREAT value. It isn't too far behind the 8350 at all in that aspect. You cannot go wrong with either one. I had my 6300 OC'd to 4.5 GHz on a 212 Cooler from CM. Go with whichever you want, both are great man.
