Kingston recommends a ram part# for Toshiba satellites. Will any DDR3 12800 work as well as another? Are most Mfg. similar in quality? Currently using 56% of 4g. Likely to choose 8g for now. How bad is it to buy another 4g and add to exstg?

You might want to steer clear of any brand not offering a lifetime warranty (a standard for ram), other than that there are few issues to contend with. 1) It must be laptop ram (desktop and laptop ram modules are different physical size) 2) although you can add a module (if you only have one currently), the suggested method of upgrade is to purchase the full amount wanted in a 'kit' which will ensure compatibility between modules and dual channel function. Those are not guaranteed if adding a module, nor is there a guarantee of the new ram playing nice with the existing ram (may not be compatible - even identical modules)
