So I bought the CM Hyper TX3 and a AMD Phenom Ii x4 965 BE to go along with it. My PSU has 600W so thats not an issue. The problem is, I have no idea how to install the Cooler Master. The instructions (3-step) were ridiculously vague, and when I look at the parts, I don't see a place to put the little braces that hold the heatsink in place.

My computer is an Inspiron 570 (mini-tower, I think), and I have modified only the PSU, graphics card, and now I am attempting to upgrade the processor and heatsink. I am a novice to computer hardware, so PLEASE help me.

Yep I watched that over a million times. The problem is, the video doesn't show very much. All it is is him showing 2 bracket things, and then putting it somewhere and bam. No offense, but his video is as useful as the manual. The problem is I don't know where he's putting the brackets. The video is angled at an awkward angle, letting the viewer see virtually nothing useful.

From what ive seen, you screw on the bracket clips that come with the cooler onto the heatsink base?

Wait, apparently there is a angled bar thing that you use to hold it down with and there should be another seperate clip bit to secure it.

EDIT: you put that bracket thing across the middle of the base.

Yes, I understood all of that, but the problem is getting the bracket thing stuck to the Motherboard. I found out the "putting the bracket thing to the other bracket thing then putting it on the base" by myself (the video really didn't help at this part).

He put the seperate bracket thing on the mounting point on the mobo and then attached the bar to the seperate bracket if that makes any sense.

There's my problem. I don't have a mounting point on my motherboard. Er, I can't find one. I know it should be possible because kisanik had an uber upgrade guide for the Inspiron 570, and he recommended the cooler. Am I missing something?

You should have the standard AM2/AM3 mounting point thing in your PC unless dell used a custom one.

I found some pictures of the way Dell stuck their heatsink onto the cpu, it looks like a 4 screw type mount point used by intel so you can try the intel mounting brackets supplied by coolermaster in the box.

I generally off the forums, but stumbled upon this post, so.
I did not recommend TX3, I stated that it is extremely difficult to use it.
So here are the options.
First, return it and get IceEdge, which I recommened, and follow instructions from my guide http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3...
Second, only if you cannot return TX3, and money spent are very important, I mean money wasted, no offense.
In this case you have to remove motherboard backplate using my GUIDE, next it has been reported that it is possible to squeeze TX3 Intel mounting clips into Dell motherboard holes, but you might break MOBO. Again, I am not recommending this way, but if money are tight, this is the only easy way out.
Third, the way I did it, it took me a week or so to find proper screws and other things to attach Rocketfish cooler (identical to TX3) to motherboard without removing backplate, I would not recommend this to anyone, even to my enemy!

The choice is yours.

Forgot to mention - I was the first one to document compatibly of 965 and Inspiron 570, so I had to do a lot of improvisation in my upgrade, and I was the second, in the whole Universe, to overclock this setup, which is still running strong.
So, basically, I know what I am talking about.

I know i'm very late and i doubt i will get an answer... But The TX3 specifically says that the cooler will fit LGA 775 mounting. So why cant we just use the LGA 775 screws that came with the kit? Or i would assume that they would come with the kit as it can mount to 775 mobo's. I don't understand this at all....
