I've bought the motherboard and case so far, both appear excellent and smell fantastic! My budget has halved since I first started thinking about this build - I originally planned on a £1200 build! I was wondering if there are any ways I can scrimp on this? Perhaps thinking along the lines of buying a cheaper quad core 1150 and overclocking it to match/near the 4670K's performance, or something.

I've already gone for a R9 270X instead of an R9 280X, and then I will Crossfire in the future if I need to.

So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated , thanks!

I have the 4670K and it runs like a champ, I highly recommend you get that processor. If I understand right, It sounds to me like you're buying parts for your computer here and there and not all at once. That's not a good idea because once you finally have all your parts. You may come to find that something doesn't work like your motherboard for example and if you bought that a while ago, then the warranty might have expired and you can't RMA it. Also, its best to buy all your parts at once to avoid your situation of coming to find that you cant afford all of it after all. I'm really sorry for that. I think you're best option now is just to save up for the 4670K and then buy it once you have enough money.

Thanks for the input. Yeah I've read that it's a very good CPU, and I would love to get it. I was thinking that, but I'll be able to afford everything by January anyway, I just thought I should buy some stuff (leaving the GPU until last), so I'm not tempted to spend my savings. I'm planning on buying the CPU, RAM and PSU in the next batch so that I can start using my PC, as I can use my old HDD's and I'm going to borrow a friend's graphics card until I can afford the 270X.

This is the cheapest 8GB DDR3 Dual-channel kit I could find that was from a decent brand. Considering it's 2133MHz as well, I thought this was a pretty good deal. Although its CL11, but I read that latency doesn't make much of a difference past 1333MHz.

Yes, I think you're doing the right thing and it doesn't seem like too long before you'll be able to use a really good computer. I have the same processor and CPU cooler that you plan to get and I have mine overclocked to 4.7Ghz, I have been told that I got lucky by getting a great CPU and I hope that same happens to you. I am planning on getting the R9-270X for Christmas so we'll have almost identical rigs! Haha well that's exciting. I plan on getting it for christmas and just like you I want to Crossfire it in the future. I also heard that the onboard graphics on the 4670K is very good for being onbaord and can actually play most games on medium with a lower resolution or low settings at 1080p which just means that you can run your pc fine without a GPU for a little bit. I just though that might help. Best wishes on your endeavor! Keep me posted. I'd like to know how it turns out. :D

first of the r9 270x is basicly a 7870 modded thats all you wont see much diffrence in gaming between the 2

considering you can get a 7870 much cheaper then a r9 270x

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/R9_270X/

give me a day to look round im sure i could decrease the price more im based in uk and know a few other sites some dont

also
i5-4570 isnt a bad processor for gaming at all if your not planning to oc which occing just pushes the processor harder which really should be a last resort

That's very strange, especially considering how we have the first name too... You are my long lost twin.

I was thinking of looking at the 7870, but I think I'd rather have the newer architecture, not sure though.

if you look at the 7870 and the r9 270x its just the same you could easily change the memory clock to match it and the core clock as the 7870 series are good occers.

wait for this to come in stock
