I replaced the HD on my Dell Latitude E5500 and attempted to reinstall Windows 7 using the Dell OEM disk that came with the laptop. However, I am getting the message "sbp2port.sys file corrupt" and the install fails. Ideas?

Solution
I think the disc you are using is a "Recovery Disc" and not a "Installation Disc".

So you will need a "Bootable Media" (DVD/USB) to install WIN 7.

Or it could be a problem of bad disc or bad CD/DVD drive.

Correct. If I start the system it says "Insert disk labeled 'Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 CD' "
The disck, which is the only one I rec'd, with the Dell, says "Reinstallation CD" and elsewhere it says "use this media only to reinstall the OS on a Dell..."

So if I understand you I need a disk other than the one that came with the Dell?
