Maximum Boost Core Clock

Hello,

I have an Intel i7 4770k processor.

I have done a few tests on my build using 3DMark (Firestrike test). Here is my result:
http://www.3dmark.com/fs/1248165

I noticed that on my results the reported stock core clock is 3.5GHz but the maximum turbo core clock is only 800MHz.

Other people's tests with the same processor show a maximum turbo core clock which is higher than the reported core clock (c.f. http://www.3dmark.com/fs/738190 ; http://www.3dmark.com/fs/1162994)

I was wondering whether this is indicative of a problem, or if I need to change a setting, or something else.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, I'm sorry, I wrote an reply to your post two days ago, but it obviously didn't go through for whatever reason!

I don't have multiple monitors unfortunately :( Is there any software that can clearly show me CPU data while the PC is stressed? I'm still worried that my CPU has something wrong with it.

Hi, just as an update: I found out what the problem was! My power options in Windows was set to 'balanced', which limits the core clock when it's not under stress. This is why CPU-Z was showing 800mhz. It still doesn't explain why 3DMark read it as 800mhz, but at least I know that setting the power options to 'performance' solves the issue. Thanks anyway for your help, Valentin_N!
