It has to have the correct number pci-e power cables, SLI is using more than 1 Nvidia GPU in tandem with the other/s , CrossfireX is just AMDs version.
So lets say the gtx 660 has 2x 6-pin power connectors, to do 2-way SLI your PSU would need to be capable of 4x 6-pin power connectors.
