Hi everyone!

I decided to upgrade my laptops memory because its a 532mhz one with cl7 4 gbs in dual channel 2x2 gbs. I thought about upgrading to 1600mhz cl11 dual channel 4gbs 2x2gbs and want to know if it would be a good idea to do so. I was hoping to get a bit better performance for gaming since my laptop uses APU of course.

If the 1600mh cl11 isn't a good idea, then could you please recommend me something that would be better like (1333 with cl7, just and example not sure if it even exists)

Thanks!

yep,two slots so 2x4gb. those are pretty cheap compared to canada where i am.once installed you might,if you feel comfortable,go into the bios and under your ram see if you can set the frequncy to 1600mhz.do this last after you have installed the ram and it works.
what processor does it have i3 or i5? if i read this right you now have 4gb of ram? since its ddr or dual data rate the actual frequency of the ram you have is 1066. looking at your laptop specs you should be able to put a max of 8gb of ram into it (2x4gb) i dont see 1600mhz ram supported by this machine so i would stick to 1066mhz.running faster ram will do you no good if not supported by your setup.it will only run as fast as is supported.you should notice a real difference by doubling what you have now.

i got an i3 350m, ye i have 4 gbs right now with 8 max i guess (or 16 maybe im not sure 2x8?)

also how can i see if it supports 1600mhz or not or where did you get that information?

also in my country I can't really see 1060mhz ram sold, ill look more though. but the 1600mhz 2gb cl11 one costs 15 euros a piece and i would get 2 of them.

EDIT: Just looked it up, theres no 2x2gb modules in a normal price range but there is a single 4 gb module for 35 euros, bit more than the cl11 2x2gb 1600mhz versions together but idk how much of a difference dual channel makes

heres the 1066 one

and heres the 1600 one

just google your make and model # specs. 8 is max according to your specs.if they dont sell 1066 (i notice you called it 1060) mhz ram you can go to 1333mhz with no problem. according to your specs you only have 2 ram slots.if this is so to get 8gb you will need to purchase 2 4gb sticks.if you had 4 slots then you could go with 2gb sticks. note also that adding faster ram to existing slower ram will cause the new ram to run at the speed of the existing ram ie 1600mhz will now run at 1066mhz or the frequency of the ram you already have.

just updated the last post, so I guess i would just go for the 1600mhz version since i could get 2 for quite cheap and if it wont support 1600, it will automatically run 1066 anyways right?

checked the pdf manual of my computer and it only says this for memory: Memory DDR3, 2 × SODIMM slot

not 4 gbs though ;D just going with 2x2 gbs for a total of 4, but yeah the ram prices have gone up quite a bit. Thank you though, ill then buy the 1600mhz cl11 2 gb crucial one and 2 of them.
