Setting up Dual Monitors?

Ok So first off Heres my Graphics card and monitors.
MSI 7870 Ghz Edition
x2 Dell 24in monitors
1 Dvi Cable
1 hdmi to dvi adapter (passive)

I hooked everything up and vidion engine wont detect my second display and neither will windows......Its so frustrating.
Someone help me get his other monitor detected.

First, iirc, the amd/ati cards will make the HDMI slot cut off the dvi-i/dvi-d slots if used. So if you have two dvi slots on the card, and two of the dvi cables, connect them, to the monitors and you should be ok from there.

Thats the problem though. the 7870 only has 1 dvi. So I have to get a diplay port adapter for me to run 2 monitors?

What is it that you are trying to do with the extra monitor... just increase productivity by having a second screen, cloning your desktop for others to view what you are doing on the second monitor, gaming, or something else?

There are adapters available for splitting the single dvi into two for cloning... but i'm guessing that's not what you're looking for.

On the AMD Control Panel there should be a setting for the display ports to enable/disable them.

If that doen't work, then from the images i brought up on the web of that card, yes, you would have to get display port adapters.
