I never really looked into my GPU temperature, I had to look now because I was playing Diablo 3 and the screen went black, everything running, but it just went black, had to reboot. My GPU is kinda old it's a GTS 240(I believe it's from 2010, it's a Dell XPS 8100), I plan to buy a new one soon, any idea for how long it could work on that kind of temperature? 77~80°C idle, 100°C> while gaming.

Is there any way to fix it? Fans are running at 78%, I already tried to increase it to 90%, I got a stable temperature of 77°C, but I heard that fans are likely to stop working on that speed.

Idk if that matters but CPU is at 50~53°C idle.

Thanks.

Open the case and check for dust build up

I don't have compressed air here, and I believe I can't just blow it hehe. Do you have any idea how long it can last at that temperature?

It should be ok at 80c but not 100c+
I would try to get the temperature down soon.
Could be bad contact between the chip and the cooler or dust buildup.

I'd give it a year. Maybe a couple, at those temps. You might catch that thing on fire before frying it to death. Dry dust is flammable. The fan is another factor which could go out without your knowledge if it dies.

I cleaned it, there was a lot of dust in there, however the temperature stays the same.
The CPU dropped to a stable 52°C, the GPU however stays at 80°C, any ideas? If it can last 1 year, idk... may not be worth fixing it.

Change the thermal paste.
