So I just built my pc. First time. Went with the 8 core 8350 on a ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 AM3+. I don't plan to overclock but I do run games for a long time and I wanted it to be quiet and cool so I bought a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus cpu cooler from new egg with my build. When I went to use the equipment per instructions I found the screws wouldn't fit into the holes on my board. They wouldn't fit flush because the thread size was different. I have read all over about posts with people with the same mother boards and same cpu coolers and no issue. Why is mine different?

You need to use the backplate supplied

Here is an installation instruction video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrnWVHdhGJ0

You seem to be looking past the part where I said the screws "riser screws" do not fit the threaded holes on my board. This is my main issue.

If it doesn't fit your board but it does with a lot of other people with the same board then you could be doing something wrong.

i strongly suggest you watch the video i linked and look closely, if you have done everything the same as the guy in the video did then i would of considered the cooler or motherboard being the problem.

The riser screws should screw into the backplate coolermaster provided in the box, not through your stock backplate.

I apologize. I see now that the back plate for the stock cpu cooler was resisting to fall off so I had no idea that it wasn't part of the board. After struggling for an hour and nearly frying my board I was able to change them out. I hope that it is on snug enough and that nothing is wrong. Thank you for your help my good friend.
