Why are B85 motherboards so much cheaper than Z87 ones?

The Z87 ones are almost 100 USD more expensive, yet they both support the same CPUs. Why is that? What features does the Z87 have and B85 does not. I was thinking about getting a B85 MB but now that I've seen that everyone is getting Z87 MBs (even for the cheapest builds) i am starting to wonder if it is the right choice.

I was thinking of pairing a Gigabyte B85M-D3H with an intel i5-4670K and 8 GB of 1600 MHz RAM. Would the cheap MB bottleneck the CPU performance? Also, does the cheaper chipset mean that i can't overclock my CPU even if it is a K series? Are there any problems with that chipset and that amount and frequency of RAM?

Also, what are the features not included in B85 that make it so overshadowed by the Z87?

only the z87 boards can overclock. theres other slight difference but thats the major one. and no, there not $100 more, you can find a cheap z87 for around $100.

B85 supports less USB ports, less SATA ports, no overclocking, No PCIe lane splitting (i.e., no SLI or crossfire) , and is missing support for a number of intel features like SSD caching.

So in your example, if you pair a 4670K with a B85M MB, you will lose all the nice features that make the 4670K the 4670K and would be better off with a lower end CPU.
