15 minutes into playing battlefield 4 and counter CS:GO my brand new build will restart.
Here are the specs:
Asus z87a
intel 4770k
corsair vengeance 16gb (1600Mhz) (2x8)
Asus Gtx 760 Card
raidmax 730w psu
please let me know if you need any other details.

I used Aida64 to stress test it because it seems like something overheats and the computer shuts down to protect itself. Here are the results,

The CPU fan will not go any higher than that RPM. Is there a setting in bios i need to change to get it to work properly? or are these temperatures of 100C normal after 53 seconds of a FPU test?

Please help this is my first build.

Thank you,

The temperatures you are getting are quite normal then. I have the same CPU, when I used the stock cooler with stock Thermals, it would hit up and throttle with a 4.2ghz Overclock. I applied some Arctic Silver 5 and it instantly went down about 10c underload and idle.

I would recommend getting a nice after market air cooler. I personally am currently using the Corsair H100i with quad fans on the radiator. Its overclocked to 4.6ghz and my temperatures are a lot lower than they were before with the stock cooler!

This might sound odd, but the cpu often overheats while the cpu paste is soggy and new.
I nearly crapped myself with an AMD build a few years back; I thought it was dead?
Give it another go tomorrow for more accurate readings.
The first try will have set it baking/drying out/

No, not normally. If you have ANYTHING in your system overclocked, it may mean that the overclock is not stable at all. Most Z87 boards are made to auto turn off the PC and reset the hardware.

I recommend going back and resetting all your hardware's specifications back to the official out of box specifications.

You temps are way too high. Stop running stress tests, your CPU is throttling. Even for a stock cooler that seems too high, but I wouldn't know because I have never installed a stock cooler on an intel CPU.

Get a 212 EVO for 20$ at minimum, better if you want. In the interim you should consider lowering voltages in bios, and possibly disabling hyper threading. Did you apply any thermal paste at all, or did cooler come with pre applied paste?

What are your idle temps?

Adroid, from the reading i did before hand i did not apply any extra Thermal paste to the Cooler. I'm just trying to isolate the issue here, would getting another cooler be a good place to start?

Yes you should either get a good heatsink and overclock that CPU, or give it to me and get a 4770 non-k version. There is no reason to have the more expensive 4770K unless you are going to overclock it.

You should not apply "extra" thermal paste, but there should have been some stuck to your cooler when you applied it the first time. Did you push the pins down unless the cooler "clicked"? It's possible that it isn't mounted right. Please re-read the instructions and let us know if you think you did something wrong.

Please post your idle temperatures as well!

I bought some thermal paste. Removed the cooler, removed the old paste. Reapplied a pea sized amount and the problem is now gone! Same stress test and no more throttling. I suspect there was not enough paste on the plate initially. Weird it came stock with this problem.
