Compatibility Issues Help!

Basically, the processor you're using is an Ivy Bridge-E processors. Those processors are the generation after the Sandy Bridge-E processors. Since the Ivy Bridge-E processors use the same socket, it uses the previous motherboards as well. That means that motherboard manufacturers had to give them a new bios update so they support the Ivy Bridge-E processor. Generally, most socket LGA 2011 motherboards should have gotten a bios update now, but it depends on the retailer. The retailer may give you an older motherboard that they had before ivy bridge-e came out so it doesn't have the bios update. But since Ivy Bridge-E has been out for awhile, you should be fine.

Also, what is the purpose of this build? Socket LGA 2011 is for some very intense work station builds. You may not need it.
