Using Windows 8 license on a different machine?

I want to try out a new piece of software from Windows called Project Spark, but my desktop runs Windows 7 and the Project Spark beta has only been released for Windows 8. I do have a laptop that runs Windows 8, but the hardware is significantly worse, to the point that I'm apparently not even allowed to install the software. My question: is there any way I can utilize my gaming PC's hardware and my laptop's Windows 8 license?

You could try. Tou could also try cloning, but especially since you're going from laptop-dekstop, getting all the right drivers and configurations working would be just short of a miracle. Try it if you really have to, but it sounds like a huge pain in the neck that will most likely only result in BSODs upon BSODs. I recommend just getting Windows 8 and doing a clean install, it will save you a lot of annoyance and speed up your PC!

Best of luck if you decide to go for it!

You cannot, under any circumstances, transfer a copy of Windows 8 that came with a prebuilt computer onto another PC. If that's what you're asking. I tried the same thing once.

This might be a little more extreme than I'd like to go, but could I remove the laptop's hard drive, plug it into my desktop, and try to boot from it? I figure I'd have to get new drivers, but would that work?

That's an even better idea^

I really just can't suggest trying to clone your OS or switching harddrives.
