My current computer: built in 2005 with MSI motherboard, SATA HDD and Windows XP.
I want to upgrade with new Asus MB, SSD (500gb), and Windows-7.
I would keep power supply(500w), nVidia GeFodrce 7800GTX graphics card, SATA optical DVD.
I want to remove my old HDD, and use SSD only for installing programs and storage.

I would like to know how to install all these new devices while keeping favorite old programs such as Photoshop, MS Office etc. I would appreciate it very much if someone instruct me step-by-step.

Oh, I forgot to write - I am planning to purchase a new CPU, that is AMD ATHLON II X3. Also I found a 4 year-old (unused, still in the orginal package) Motherboard, which is GIGABYTE MA79OX-UD4P. This MB is compatible with AM3 AND AM2+.

In addition to reinstalling the OS as planned, you really, really need to reinstall all your applications. Office, Photoshop, etc.
Some applications might 'work', but the large complex ones create many, many entries in te registry. The new OS install will not know about them unless you reinstall.

Save all of your personal docs and images elsewhere, and reinstall the applications.
