my current build is a few years old and im not sure how much longer i should keep it. i cant upgrade much more than i have already besides maybe the gpu

current build is:
Mobo: gigabyte ga870a-ud3
CPU: amd phenom iix4 965 BE
GPU: msi geforce gtx 560 ti
RAM: 4 gb(2x2gb)
PSU: 750w (brand unknown off hand)
Mid size tower
liquid CPU cooling (push-pull)

the thing that is holding me back is my mobo being as it only accepts AMD cpu and my current one is almost the best it can be, and it does NOT support sli/crossfire. . should i just upgrade the gpu. maybe more ram as well or is it time to invest in a whole new set up? i was looking at a few items and the new system would cost about $1800-$2000. should i invest or save.

this is a gaming rig and was unsure how long into the future it would hold up with the new games coming out

Well the motherboard is using a dead socket, so you can't upgrade the processor. The Phenom is an excellent processor that is still comparable against the lower-end processors like the FX-4300 or i3. Depending on what games you want to play and what gpu you get, you may or may not want to upgrade the processor and motherboard. Is the processor overclocked?
The psu brand is unknown and it's off-hand, so I suspect a bad quality psu. I wouldn't upgrade the gpu with that.
Do you know what mid size tower and what cpu cooler that is? Brand and model?

All in all, it depends on what games you want to play.

It depends on what you plan to do with the system. For an $1800 I am assuming you want to do some real work/gaming in which case and upgrade is necessary. If not, then upgrading the GPU will let you keep your system for a few years longer so you can make a full upgrade then.
