Okay so I just unboxed my XFX R9 280x. I am a little confused about power requirements as I am not the hardware aficionados you fine people are. I was wondering, for the following setup (including the R9 280x) what kind of power wattage/type of supply would you suggest? I know Volts and Plus ratings are more important than the actual raw wattage number as some power supplies promise big numbers but suck. My processor isn't overclocked and the card wont necessarily be unless you think I absolutely should. Thank you in advance for your help. I am running the following:

CPU
2.67 gigahertz Intel Core i7 920
64 kilobyte primary memory cache
256 kilobyte secondary memory cache
8192 kilobyte tertiary memory cache
64-bit ready

RAM
9208 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory

Slot 'DIMM1' has 1024 MB
Slot 'DIMM2' has 2048 MB
Slot 'DIMM3' has 1024 MB
Slot 'DIMM4' has 2048 MB
Slot 'DIMM5' has 1024 MB

well, a system equipped with :

Processor Intel Core i7-4960X @ 4.2GHz
Motherboard ASRock Fatal1ty X79 Professional
Disk Drives Samsung SSD 840 EVO (750GB)
Memory G.Skill RipjawZ DDR3-1866 4 x 8GB (9-10-9-26)

and XFX R9 280X

only consume 290 watt for total power consumption while gaming..

and 360 w while stressing with Furmark

So, any 500w good psu from well known brand (seasonic, antec, corsair, fsp etc), will fits on your needs and run your system flawlessly..

For example :
Seasonic s12ii 520watt bronze

I use the same GPU (but not xfx) in a build right now and went with a seasonic x 650w :D  great PSU but kinda expensive
