I already have a network but it shuts off every night at a scheduled time that I would like to use it.
If I buy another router and plug it into the same modem, can mine run at night while the other is restricted?
If you only use the scheduler to turn off the wireless radio and not the entire router, then yes you could add a wireless access point with an LAN to LAN connection and leave its wireless radio on 24/7.
But why not just disable the wireless scheduler and leave it on whenever you need it?
Would I connect the new router to the primary one to set it up that way? And if so, I won't have a problem with the primary ones schedule shutting down the flow in the 2nd one right? I'm just making sure all of this will work before I do it.
To start, what router do you have, and what do you plan to buy as the second AP?
And to be perfectly clear, do you shut down the entire primary router or only the wireless radio?
One approach would be to use dd-wrt firmware on the units if they are capable, as the radio can be set up to a schedule for dd-wrt capable units and it could be set on either or both as you choose.
Some routers do contain firmware that already allows use scheduling without using dd-wrt, others do not.
