whenever 3dmark is rendering on the screen my psu makes wierd noises....It almost sounds like a hdd reading but the test is installed on my SSD
The pus is a brand new antec earthwatts platinum 450watt.

according to http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

I should only need 329watt min, with 379 recommended.

I just upgraded both the psu and my GPU.
The old psu was a Delta 300watt (came as oem in my gateway pc)
The new one is listed above
Old video card was a radeon 7770.

http://www.hwcompare.com/14300/radeon-hd-7770-vs-radeon-hd-7790/

tdp isn't much different, I'd be surprised if power consumption was more than 150watts higher... the old psu handled everything just fine, I just wanted a more efficient model, and was able to pickup the 7790 for cheap so why not upgrade.

EDIT: more info. Initially I thought it was a fan slightly rubbing something but I stopped them all with my hand (even the cpu -- live on the edge!...it only runs like 100rpm when at idle so i knew there wasnt a risk)

Video showing it is here:

antec is saying its a cap in there suffering overload from the gpu (which is said to require a 500 watt supply, he said that but I can't find it anyplace... I DID find that it requires a max of 150watts.... 12V line right? so 12.5 amps... each rail of the supply is supposed to be good for 30.
