Hi guys, I have come accross a problem with my expensive desktop computer, the internet seems really slow on it, and I mean really slow, I can go on a my laptop or my iPad or my iPhone and it's fine,

On the iPhone I get 30mbps from speed test
On my desktop it won't even load the page, well it will eventually but not to my standards ;)

Could it be my wireless card playing up?
I have tried the ip renew method in command prompt but it's still the same.

Any help would be great.

Dan

You may update the drivers.
a) a. Click Start, type Device Manager and hit Enter.

b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

c) Look for the device under Network adaptors, right click on it and select update.

Thanks for the reply, just tried updating it and it says the driver is already up to date :(

Is your desktop connected via a wireless or wired connection?

Then perhaps try connecting through a wired connection as wired is always quicker. Also, if your desktop is quite far away from your router then you won't get fast speeds.

Just found out I can't move my router upstairs to my computer room as it's sky fibre and it needs to be on the master socket, it used to be fine so it should be a problem with where the computer is?

Check that you are not capped or have a speed limiter on the PC...
Test your speed and if it nearer to the 1.00 MB thats fine but if it is a lot slower try to update your ethernet driver or try google TCP booster.

I can't even load speedtest.net to see what speed I'm getting...
How else can I check if I'm capped?
