What is slowing down my pc

Hey guys i brought a PC about a year ago and it seems to be slowing down is there anything i can do to stop this. My specs are

Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit
System Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
System Model: XPS 8500
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3350P CPU @ 3.10GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.1GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Grapics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 620

defragment the HDD. Keep HDD at less than 80% full. I think you need to run Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter. Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools.

Your system is fine for non hard core gaming.

Another option could be to buy a SSD. But then you'd have to reinstall OS and everything else again on the SSD. The SSD helps to make programs snap open quicker.
