Hi, I'm stuck. My computer that is running Win7 shuts down every 30minutes like click work. It does it not matter what it is doing, sitting idle or playing games.

I have swapped out every component with a machine that I know works, same result. I have even tried disconnecting the harddrive and letting it sit at the insert system disk message screen and it still turns off. I have tried running it outside the case and used a different power switch to turn the system on.

What else can it be?

Thanks Nic

Hi

assuming you have not swapped out the motherboard/CPU

look at bios settings relating to timed activities
reset cmos using jumper or removing coin battery (if jumper can not be identified)

I sorted out a laptop which shut down after about 4 minutes regularly
I found out it was a known problem and was counting down from 255 seconds
unfortunately I had to unsolder the cmos coin battery as there was no reset jumper
