Hi i currently have a 7870 and i will be upgrading and adding a second 7870, i am using a 580W Be-Quiet gold cert PSU atm. I'm wondering whether i will need to upgrade that as well

I am hoping not as the two cards will only draw 300W and the cpu 125W so i think i should be fine but i'd rather make sure

i have no intentions of overclocking

full system specs at the link http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/1DzQ8

thanks

Sam

it's close. too close to the vest in my opinion. certainly i wouldn't run it like this for a very long time. you could try to add it and play some games to confirm if it's working ok. if the psu can't take it it will be unstable and then you know you need to upgrade the psu too.

consider a new psu in the near future even if it's working ok.

Normally i would say 600 watt but you are very close to that and it's not a bad PSU.
I had an Antec 520 watt pro gamer but upgraded to 2 x AMD 270x graphics cards yesterday and upgraded my PSU to a Seasonic 650watt platinum supply.
Maybe you could run them for now and see how you go. If you get system instability i would suggest an upgrade.
Maybe you could save for a better PSU in the next few months:)

If you remove some fans could be better.
You have a Gold PSU so maybe is not problem but you cant play with that :p

i'm probably going to add a closed loop to the system at the end of January which would reduce the amount of fans by 2, would that be enough?

the new card isn't going in till christmas

Fans use very little power. I'm not sure about a closed loop system.
I would just try and save as soon as possible for a power supply upgrade. If the system shows signs of instability or the PSU starts getting hot take the card out until you get the PSU:)
