I have a dell inspiron 530S that I want to upgrade. It has vista basic 32bit and I upgraded the ram to 4 GB currently only using 3.4 due to 32 bit system. 250GB hard drive. Intel pentium dual core 1.80GHZ and intel graphics family integrated video card. I want a better video card which one would fit? Without me needing to upgrade the PSU. I also would want to know if the CPU would bottleneck or if I could replace the CPU is a C2D or a C2Q?

Solution
If you are lucky you might be able to find a 300 or 350 watt slim line psu but I don't recommend that you try it because you have a Dell which could have a different power supply pin setup and it could start a fire if the pins are different. Did you try to play minecraft on your current setup? Usually minecraft can run on integrated graphics but maybe not in your case since your PC is a few years old. I don't know of any graphics cards that don't require at least 300 watts, plus having a PC that's a few years old makes it even more unsafe to add a graphics card. Your 250 watt PSU has naturally degraded to less than 250 watts by now.

I want to use it for light gaming like minecraft :p maybe some photoshop. I was wondering if I could just plug in one that does not depend power on the PSU? If I need a better PSU could i buy a better one for this or not?

Sorry misclicked anyway I tried minecraft on the setup now and it lags really bad. I just want a little graphics card that can play it. Med settings nothing fancy. People say dell underrates their PSU so other people said it might bee 300 watt buy I won't take chances. And GP that requires little power? Just minecraft ;p

Ont the one with he link people say it is extremely hard to install the drivers for it. I am going to have BestBuy GeekSquad install it do you think they can do it properly? And if they mess it up and break my computer what will they do for me?

If you are going to have them do it and buy a new card you might as well just buy a new computer for the price you will end up paying. It's very easy to install and the drivers are easy to install too. I have installed this card before on a slimline Dell inspiron like yours in the past.

The reason I wouldn't like to install it myself is the static electricity I fried one of my laptops trying to install RAM. Since I would want a desktop that could play games if I were to buy a new one it would have a dedicated GPU. I think I will stick with this one I can get our local computer store to install it for me instead. Just don't feel comfortable installing it myself.(As I am only 12) :p So basically what your saying is that the card would work and it would be a bit more expensive if I do buy it? I think i will buy it and have a local computer store install it. Christmas is coming soon...

Yes that will work fine, it's pretty much the same thing as the 4350 but you might be able to find that one easier and for cheaper. I was going to suggest that one actually if you had no luck finding the 4350. The 1gb vs the 512mb isn't going to give you much of a performance difference when talking about these types of graphics cards.

Okay thanks dude I guess I'll just get the 1 GB version and will the drivers work with windows vista basic? I LOVE XP I really want to go back but would it be worth it because microsoft is not supporting it april 8th 2014? Wish they kept supporting it ;/! Okay thanks I have made my choice for graphics card! Hope everything goes good! Thanks again.
