I am just currently lagging on my Gtx 670, and just can not decide from these two,

I heard that the 290X gets really really hot and loud, and if I get it I will most likely be getting a Kraken G10

But yeah, what do you guys think is better for bf4 or in general

More about : bf4 gtx 780 radeon 290x

the 290X will win in BF4. BF4 is designed to run on AMD cards.
And btw ASUS is going to launch their Direct CUII 290 in January. So that might be worth it.
But the kraken G10 might be a better solution if you have a good liquid cooler like the h80i or h100i.
The 780 is much quieter and will max anything at 1080p.

But if you plan to play at 1440p then youre gonna want the 290x.

if you only care for the performance and ignore noise/temps, go for 290x

I like your name, and thanks for your response, I was looking at playing on a 1920x1080 Monitor (1080p). I have been with NVIDIA for almost a year, and have never had a problem with drivers or anything, but I heard that there are a lot of problems with the 290x (drivers, software, etc.) So should I got with the 780 if I am not planning to play on a 1440p monitor in the future?

For just a 1080p monitor you will be fine with either card. Ultra on everything you run, even crysis 3.
However for 1440p you will start to notice that the 290x pulls slightly ahead, but by only a few fps.
The real question is do you want the cheapest or the best?

The cheapest is the 290X. For stealth get an h80i or even an h70 and the G10. Very quiet and it will even compete with the 780ti
However with the 780 you get 3 free games and you have an already installed cooler. The best is the Direct CUII and the MSI Lightning.
The choice is yours, the 780 is easier, more convinient, and has some better softwares.
The 290X with a ok cooler and the g10 has much more performance, better temps, and will probably be quieter.

But just for 1080p have you considered the R9 280X? It has very awesome performance at 1080 and is a lot cheaper. And has good aftermarket coolers, the best being the Sapphire Vapor X.
And then the 770 from NVIDIA has equal performance, comes with some games, and has better software. But is more expensive.

So there are your choices, if you have the money I would recommend that you go for the 290X with a h80i and the G10.

Thank you for your replies,
I just have one more question:
Will my i5 3570k OC @ 4 GHZ hold it back at all?

Agreed. The 3570k should have no problem keeping up with either of the GPUs

Ok, so. I am currently using the r9 290 (note: NOT the "x" version) which is about 30% cheaper and 6% less powerful. I can max out bf4 on a 64 player match at ~70 fps solid. Never goes below 60. It doesn't even make that much noise. My sister's fish tank makes more noise. Anyways. Go for the r9 290 and use the extra money to get an i7 4770K if you don't have one. If you do, extra money for you. Yes it can get a bit hot but it is manageable. I do agree that the drivers are a bit of a hassle but it's 100% worth it. I have the Gigabyte R9 290 Factory Superclocked and an i7 4770K oc'ed to 4.0 Ghz
