i am new here and i want to build small voip system as this way :

i am in place A and i want to connect to a land line in place B
place A in a city and Place B in another city

what i need more than the voip adapter ??

can someone write me all the things i need

First thing is to go and read some of the papers about what FXS and FXO mean.

To connect to a telco line you need a adapter with a FXO port. This pretty much converts from the signalling used by a analog port to VoIP. Then if your goal is to use a hardware analog phone on the other end you need a FXS port. Now you can also use VoIP hard phones and Pc based VoIP software phones.

What exactly you need to support will determine which equipment you need. Very simple FXO devices require you have some form of VoIP switch/call manage where some of the more advanced one will provide the ability to forward calls to VoIP devices with nothing else.

i know what FXS and FXO means i can use pc to use this adapter and i want only to make a call from my place to the place where the adapter is ( second place ) so i do not need any subscription or any thing more than the adapter and the phone line in the second place and what is the adapter of if i want only to make call with pc ?

Really any of the free VoIP clients should work. Best bet is to find a FXO device you like and then see which is compatible. Outgoing calls is easy it is the incoming ones that get to be a challenge. You should be able to tell the FXO device to route all calls to your PC ip.

It is still a matter of searching for FXO gateways and finding one you like. It is mostly do you want a very simple one that you really have to know what you are doing to make it work with a PC VoIP software or do you want one that has PC software clients included and being sold as a package.

You will likely find very little difference in FXO devices when it comes to how they actually work since that is pretty standard it is mostly the user interface.

no problem if the client is pc software i just want to make a call between two places through this things what is the best device and do i need any subscription ?

"Best" is very subjective and why I have been avoiding any particular recommendations. Things like do you want a web interface to configure them or can you get by with a unit that needs a serial console to configure it. Functionally most unit are identical as far as the calling goes.

You will need no subscription for most devices if you stay with simple gateways. Of course you must pay for the land line which I consider outrageously expensive compared to paying for a VoIP line over the internet.
