My mother just purchased Win 7 Pro 64-Bit OSS (not to be confused with OS)...

Never seen this before. I heard oif OEM and Retail but not OSS. This is to be installed on a laptop for home use. The DVD is still in the package and will not be opened until we know it's the right version.

Is OSS ok to install, or should we return it and just get the OEM version?

Thank you in advance.

From TigerDirect, it is not "OSS"
There is no such thing as a Windows OSS version.

It is almost certainly OEM, not OSS.

Your Windows version OSs might be intended to be used a guest operating system for the benefit of Intel's Hardware-assisted virtualization.
It's really only for IT people, developers and advanced users as far as I can make out.

Here's a link to the page I base this opinion on.
